The Regent Singapore may have been a familiar face (and one of my favourites – this will be my 4th visit) along the top end of Orchard Road, but the Conrad Singapore Orchard has now emerged as an altogether fresher, more polished, purposeful property that is not afraid to wink at its heritage. This isn’t just a rebrand; it’s a quietly confident statement: luxury can evolve without losing its charm.

First Impressions
Arrival Experience
Arriving by Uber, the driver paused, momentarily uncertain whether to head to Conrad or Regent—a small reminder of the hotel’s long-standing presence. The porte-cochère is restrained yet functional, with staff striking the right balance between visibility and discretion. Stepping from Singapore’s outdoor heat into the cool, air-conditioned arrival zone immediately sets a positive tone.
Lobby & Décor
The lobby moves decisively from the Regent’s traditional styling to contemporary elegance. Generous windows allow natural light to highlight marble surfaces and subtle statement furnishings. The atmosphere is calm, with circulation that feels intuitive and spacious. Art installations are varied: some are striking, others less impactful, but none dominate the overall aesthetic. Subtle fragrances of jasmine and lemongrass add a refined, unobtrusive touch.
Accommodations
Room Stayed
I stayed in an Executive King on the 18th floor, measuring 42 m². Clever design choices, such as mirror placement and thoughtful layouts, amplify the sense of space. The king bed, dressed in high-quality linens, anchors the room with comfort and practicality. The new colour palette is fresh and contemporary, surprising after the formerly creamy tones in Regent days.
Views vary: the Botanic Gardens-facing rooms offer verdant calm, while Orchard Road-facing rooms provide a dynamic city perspective. The electrically controlled blackout curtains and sheers are wonderfully accessible from either bedside or lounge. Soundproofing is effective, though traffic hum remains faintly noticeable.
Lighting is particularly well considered: ambient LED pools replace harsh overhead options, and bedside controls are intuitive. Multiple USB ports and power outlets are conveniently placed.
The bathroom features marble surfaces, a deep soaking tub, and well-scented bath salts. I particularly liked the effective use of mirrors here to modernise the space without the need for structural changes. Shower pressure fluctuates slightly at peak times, but remains adequate. Climate control is responsive, and the minibar stocks a mix of premium spirits and local snacks, including surprisingly good-value kaya toast packets.
Other Room Types
Deluxe Suites: 65–85 m² with separate living areas, ideal for business or extended stays; some have small balconies with Botanic Gardens views.
Presidential Suite: 180 m², dining for eight, dedicated butler service; exclusive and impressive.
Standard Rooms: 35 m²; compact yet thoughtfully arranged, corner units benefit from dual-aspect windows.
Hotel Facilities & Services
The hotel houses 583 rooms across 31 floors, yet circulation feels uncluttered.
Fitness Centre: 24-hour, well-equipped, with floor-to-ceiling windows for city or garden views.
Pool: Outdoor, medium-sized; cabanas can be booked on weekends.
Dining: Ten venues with distinct concepts—from Michelin-starred Summer Palace to Manhattan Bar’s hidden speakeasy.
Executive Lounge: Spacious, offering evening cocktails and canapés; rotating daily soups from Summer Palace are a highlight.
Sustainability: Energy-efficient lighting and local sourcing are in place, though comprehensive programmes are limited.
🔍 Insider Tip: Rooms ending in 01 or 06 maximise Botanic Gardens views. Evening soup rotations are best timed with the Executive Lounge schedule.

Guest Experience
Service is attentive without overstepping, with staff quickly recalling guest preferences. Although I was not recognised as being a return guest in their PMS, my special requests and a birthday and wedding anniversary were remembered by reception team, restaurant staff and club lounge staff with surprising regularity. Concierge teams display extensive local knowledge, recommending genuine local experiences alongside standard sightseeing. This area is a wonderful space to relax after a day sightseeing with evening cocktails before dinner.
While the Executive Lounge handles large volumes well, breakfast peak times can be busy. Minor lapses, such as occasional housekeeping missteps, are handled graciously.

Final Thoughts
Conrad Singapore Orchard successfully modernises the Regent legacy. The hotel delivers polished luxury with practical design, attentive service, and central convenience. While international in style, it caters well to both business and leisure travellers seeking Orchard Road access, comfortable rooms, and a range of dining experiences. Not perfect, but a reliable choice for discerning guests seeking contemporary luxury with subtle personality.
