A heritage haven in Singapore's Chinatown
Experience the perfect blend of historic charm and modern luxury at Ann Siang House, a boutique hotel in the heart of Singapore’s Chinatown. Discover comfort, culture, and convenience.

First Impressions
Stepping into Ann Siang House feels like entering a living piece of Singapore’s history. The check-in process is prompt right at the front door, with staff offering a warm welcome and genuine hospitality. As I approached the bright blue facade, I was immediately struck by how seamlessly the hotel integrates into the vibrant Ann Siang neighbourhood. One of Singapore’s under-rated precincts for many visitors.
Lobby and Decor:
The lobby albeit small by many city hotel standards is nevertheless bright and has a contemporary design. The space is intimate yet functional, with a small desk, a cosy lounge and table seating, and a thoughtful pantry corner offering complimentary coffee, tea, and local snacks.
Accommodations
Room Type:
My Deluxe Corner Room was surprisingly spacious despite what I had read in advance. The layout made clever use of the building’s re-imagined heritage structure, with large windows offering views of the bustling street below. The room came equipped with all the anticipated essentials:
King-sized bed with premium linens
Flat-screen TV with satellite channels
Mini-fridge, Tea & coffee making
Water bottles which you could self-refill at anytime 24/7 from the lobby lounge for chilled and sparkling water
Iron and ironing board
Safe with power supply inside to charge devices whilst locked safely away!
Hairdryer
The bathroom was a highlight, featuring a luxurious rain head shower, perfect after a day of exploring.
Comfort Level:
The Hypnos mattress lived up to its reputation as “the most comfortable bed in the world.” Despite reading about other travellers comments on outside noise, for me, the street noise was nil, thanks to effective soundproofing and was not an issue in any way. The overall comfort level was excellent, providing a true sanctuary in the heart of the city.
Other Room Types Available
Studio Executive: Large King rooms with additional kitchenette.
Deluxe Room: Standard King offering with all essential comforts.
Studio Premier: Spacious King rooms with kitchenette and bath, ideal for longer stays.
All room types maintain the hotel’s signature blend of heritage charm and modern convenience

Hotel Facilities and Services
Amenities
While Ann Siang House focuses on providing a boutique experience, it doesn’t skimp on practical amenities:
24/7 reception desk
Complimentary Wi-Fi throughout the property
Self-service laundry facilities
Business lounge for work needs
Daily housekeeping
The hotel may not have a pool or gym, but its location and thoughtful services more than make up for it.
Customer Service:
The staff at Ann Siang House truly shine. From the front desk to housekeeping, everyone I encountered was friendly, knowledgeable, and always eager to help. They went above and beyond, offering local recommendations and even surprising me with a birthday decoration in my room. I certainly felt welcomed with every interaction during my stay.
Accessibility:
While the hotel is housed in a heritage building, efforts have been made to accommodate guests with mobility needs. However, due to architectural constraints, some areas may pose challenges. It’s best to contact the hotel directly to discuss specific accessibility requirements.

Dining & Drinks
Ann Siang House takes a unique approach to dining:
Social Lobby: A versatile space that serves as a reception area, coffee bar, and social hub.
Unlimited Bites: 24/7 access to complimentary snacks and refreshments.
Social Hour: Daily from 5-6 PM, offering free-flow wine and beer. Other drinks available at charge.
While the hotel doesn’t have a full-service restaurant, the Social Hour offerings are a treat. The easy access for topping-up water and an air-conditioned break at different times of the day was most welcome and did not really detract from the usual minibar alternative. For those craving a full meal, the hotel’s location puts you steps away from some of Singapore’s best dining options.
Local cafes and restaurants:
The sheer number for excellent cafes and contemporary restaurants nearby is one of the key reasons to stay in this part of Singapore. Here’s just tiny sample to consider:
Overall Dining Experience
The food and beverage concept at Ann Siang House is refreshingly different. It encourages guests to explore the neighbourhood’s culinary scene while providing convenient in-house options for quick bites and social drinks.
